It wasn’t until after the Second World War, however, that Lego began its bold experiments with plastic, paving the way for the toys that would become synonymous with the brand. Inspired by the self-locking bricks of British firm Kiddicraft, the entrepreneur introduced his “Automatic Binding Bricks” in 1949, officially branded Lego Bricks four years later.
