Following Boston’s impressive 119-109 win over Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Jayson Tatum addressed questions about his play since returning from a torn Achilles. The forward made it clear he has not lost any part of his game—he is simply working through rust.

“I mean, I didn’t lose any of my game. I’m just kind of rusty right now, finding my wind and my rhythm,” Tatum said.
The comment came after Tatum delivered 19 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and a block in 35 minutes against the Thunder—a stat line no Celtic had posted since Kevin Garnett in 2007.
Tatum’s willingness to acknowledge the adjustment period while remaining confident has resonated with fans and teammates alike. The six-time All-Star has scored in double figures in every appearance since his return and continues to ramp up his minutes.
Head coach Joe Mazzulla and the rest of the organization have emphasized patience, knowing Tatum’s full form will be critical come playoff time. Wednesday’s performance against the league’s top team offered the latest proof that the star forward is trending in the right direction.
