Jade Cargill beat Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event to win the WWE Women’s Championship.

Cargill hit Stratton with her signature Jaded finisher for the win. Stratton had held the WWE Women’s Title for 302 days prior to Saturday night’s loss.

Saturday marked the fourth women’s title match involving both Stratton and Cargill dating back to August, although the circumstances surrounding their most recent bout were far different from the previous ones.

Their first meeting occurred back at SummerSlam as a result of Cargill winning the Queen of the Ring tournament. While Jade came close to getting her first taste of singles championship gold in WWE, Tiffany prevailed.

Just over one month later, Cargill received a rematch against Stratton on an episode of SmackDown after she lent a helping hand to Tiffany in her rivalry with Nia Jax.

Cargill and Stratton battled to a double count-out, and they both came out of the match worse for wear due to Jax attacking them once it was over.

That set the stage for a Triple Threat title match between Stratton, Cargill and Jax on the Sept. 26 episode of SmackDown.

Cargill suffered a nasty gash on her face at the hands of Jax during the match, and Stratton went on to win and retain once again by virtue of hitting Nia with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever.

Jade was off WWE programming for about the next month as she recovered, but she resurfaced on the Oct. 24 edition of SmackDown by saving Stratton from getting attacked by Kiana James and Giulia.

Cargill raised Stratton’s hand in the air afterward, but it was merely a setup for a heel turn, as Jade viciously attacked Tiffany by throwing her over the announce table and stomping her leg as it was propped up on the steel stairs.

That led to yet another title match between Cargill and Stratton, but things were different at SNME, as Jade was victorious and finally reached the top of the SmackDown women’s division by becoming WWE women’s champ.
