Universities have made $1.28 billion in cuts and spending deferrals over the last three years, COU says. About 2,700 courses and programs have been cut and 2,500 jobs lost. The sector is contracting at the same time as student demand is increasing. COU projects that without more money in the system, by 2030 there will be 100,000 students unable to find a spot in Ontario universities.
