For a brand that’s been slipping in the ultracompetitive US luxury market, Infiniti is hoping its latest bet is a winner.
The all-new 2027 QX65 is the most important product in years for the Nissan-owned (NSANY) upmarket brand — a fastback SUV designed to turn heads and, more critically, sales.
Last year, Infiniti’s US sales dipped 9% to 52,846 units sold, less than half the amount sold fewer than 10 years ago. Meanwhile, Toyota’s (TM) Lexus grew 7.1% in 2025, following an already record year in 2024. Honda’s (HMC) Acura also edged slightly higher.

Infiniti is hoping the QX65 is the answer to that slide by addressing the midsize, two-row SUV market. “We are bringing it into the largest segment in luxury,” Infiniti Americas vice president Eric Ledieu said. “We think that will do well for us. It’ll do extremely well for our retailers who right now are looking for ways to bring those kinds of customers back into their showrooms.”
The vehicle features a dramatic arching fastback roofline and a wide, sporty stance. That profile is a deliberate play for style-conscious buyers gravitating toward coupe-SUV rivals like the BMW X4 — shoppers Infiniti has largely failed to capture.
Ledieu, who said he drove the vehicle a few weeks before its reveal, described the powertrain as “really torquey at the beginning, which is fun,” adding that the interior “really delivers on that thoughtful hospitality.”
The QX65’s turbo four-cylinder produces 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic tuned for aggressive shift behavior. The top-spec Autograph trim features semi-aniline leather seats quilted in a pattern inspired by kimono folds, the company said.
The QX65 is also part of a broader rebuild.
Ledieu said Infiniti plans to bring one new vehicle to market every year for the foreseeable future, including a performance-oriented sedan with a potential manual transmission arriving next year.
“If you think about what the G35 did for the performance aspect of this brand,” he said, “we think our sedan will do that next year.”
The QX65 will be priced from $53,990 and built at Nissan’s plant in Smyrna, Tenn. It will arrive at dealers in early summer.
