The high school football season in Alabama came to an end this week with the playing of the AHSAA Super 7 championships at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama.
For three 2026 Auburn signees, their busy weeks began by signing with the Auburn Tigers, and ended by playing in the most important football games of their careers at this point. Four-star EDGE Jaquez Wilkes, three-star wide receiver DeShawn Spencer, and three-star safety Damonte Tabb all competed in their respective classifications state championship games, with one player ending his prep career on a high note.

Jaquez Wilkes

Wilkes led the Wadley Bulldogs to the 1A state championship for the second-straight season, and the third time in his high school career. He rushed eight times for 43 yards and a touchdown on offense and logged five tackles on defense. However, a high ankle sprain kept him out of commission for the second half, and his team fell to Maplesville, 42-22.
2027 Auburn target Nehemiah McCrary rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns for Maplesville in the win.
Deshawn Spencer

Saraland wide receiver Deshawn Spencer ended his high school career on a stellar note by hauling in 10 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown, and added 34 more yards on the ground. However, his performance was not enough to carry the Spartans to a win, as Clay-Chalkville took down Saraland, 38-21, to win the 6A title.

Spencer joined Auburn’s class at the midnight hour by flipping his commitment from Duke to Auburn on signing day.
Damonte Tabb

Tabb made just one stop in Thompson’s 48-10 win over Opelika in the 7A state championship, but he hauled in one interception and broke up a pass in the win. Tabb’s interception was his 11th of the season, and he is ready to join a long list of Thompson alums on Auburn’s roster including Kaleb Harris and Jared Smith.
