Homicide unit investigates after police respond to shooting at Toronto mall


TORONTO — Police in Toronto say a man is dead after reports of a shooting at a city shopping mall.

The Toronto Police Service says in a social media post that officers responded to the Woodbine Shopping Centre Plaza on Saturday after receiving reports of a shooting, and that a suspect or suspects fled in a vehicle.

The post notes there was a heavy police presence in the area, and that Toronto Paramedic Services was assessing injuries.

In later posts, police say officers located a man in his 30s, who was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

They say he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Police say their homicide unit is now investigating.
