Here’s our first look at Sophie Turner’s Lara Croft and her dual pistols on set of Tomb Raider

Sophie Turner has started filming for Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider adaptation, and we now have our first look at her Lara Croft making her way through a soggy woodland.

The brief footage, which you can see below, shows Turner’s Lara with holsters-a-plenty, because yes, those are her dual pistols you can see strapped to her thighs. Hurrah!

Meanwhile, Turner’s hair has been styled in a long braid for the scene, which according to the YouTube description accompanying this footage, was shot in Surrey (that explains the weather).

We’ve recently had a flurry of cast announcements for Amazon’s Tomb Raider series. Along with Turner’s Lara Croft, Jason Isaacs has been cast as Lara’s Uncle Atlas, while Martin Bobb-Semple will play Zip, Bill Paterson will play Winston and Celia Imrie will play Francine (that is to say, the Head of Advancement at the British Museum, who is “focused solely on raising funds and glasses of champagne”).

Earlier this year, former Lara Croft actress Keeley Hawes was also spotted on set in London, with many suspecting she will play Lara’s mother Amelia on the show’s release.

Meanwhile, Phoebe Waller-Bridge – who along with Fleabag is also known for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Killing Eve and Crashing – will serve as the show’s creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner.

“It’s not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving,” Waller-Bridge has said of Tomb Raider. “Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out… Croft is coming…”
