Gwyneth Paltrow joined the growing run of Jude Date mules on Friday, wearing the black creased leather peep-toe heels to the 46th annual New York Women in Film & Television Muse Awards at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. Paltrow attended as one of this year’s honorees, adding the black version to a recent celebrity line that has already included white pairs on Rachel McAdams and Brooks Nader.

Her mules featured a closed, rounded upper with a triangular peep-toe cut low at the front and a curved topline set high over the foot. Black creased leather covered the vamp, while the slim sculpted heel rose in a thin line before widening slightly at the base. No platform, hardware or ankle strap interrupted the shape, keeping the shoe clean, sharp and slightly off-center in the way Paltrow’s best heels tend to be. The silhouette is also available in python-embossed leather, suede and other smooth-leather finishes.

Paltrow paired the mules with a navy look from Gwyn, Goop’s in-house label. The double-breasted Suki Jacket featured broad lapels and a cropped cut, while the matching Beatrice skirt fell below the knee in sharp pleats. A black Hermès Kelly bag kept the palette tight. That left the Jude mules to do the work at the hemline, where the peep toe and curved heel broke up an otherwise strict tailoring line.

Paltrow’s pair also landed in good company. McAdams wore the same Jude Date mule in white leather in January for a “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” appearance in Los Angeles, and Brooks Nader wore the same white peep-toe pair at Wimbledon last July. The label’s other mule silhouettes have also drawn celebrity wearers, including Tessa Thompson, who wore a pink satin style while accepting Best Actress at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Black Cinema & Television in December. The label, founded by Jurgita Dileviciute and Denitsa Bumbarova, picked up ’ Emerging Talent Award last year, and has become known for its Fame pump.
Paltrow’s own recent shoe choices have followed the same shape-first line that has made Jude so popular among celebrities. In September, she wore Demna’s monogrammed Gucci boots at Milan Fashion Week, then moved to Saint Laurent over-the-knee boots during awards season and white Christian Louboutin Miss Z pumps at the Oscars.
