Flights resume at Edinburgh airport following issue with air traffic control provider
About an hour after announcing that all flights were grounded due to a technicaly issue, Edinburgh Airport said that flights have resumed.
“We thank passengers for their patience and understanding,” the airport said on X.
At least one flight, a redeye Delta Airlines flight that left New York just after 10 p.m. local time on Thursday, was diverted to Dublin, landing at 9:45 a.m. Friday local time. according to flight tracker FlightRadar24.
Edinburgh Airport is Scotland’s busiest airport, serving an estimated 15.8 million passengers in 2024, according to the airport website.
With just one ranway and one terminal, 37 airlines operate out of Edinburgh, flying to 155 destinations.
Edinburgh Airport suspends all flights because of technical issue
Edinburgh Airport grounded all flights Friday morning because of a technical issue with its air traffic control provider, airport officials said in a statement posted on social media.
“Teams are working on the issue and will resolve as soon as possible,” the statement reads.
Airport officials urged passengers to contact the airlines for information on their flights.
