First ever parade, party set for Cleveland Guardians home opener

Cleveland Guardians fans will have a new way to usher in the season with Opening Day in Ohio City set begin at 10 a.m., April 3.

The party begins at Market Square Park (Market Avenue near the historic West Side Market) with a party suitable for the entire family. The district will feature a number of activities including:

A cookout featuring ballpark favorites
Vendors, mascots and games.
A 50/50 raffle with memorabilia prizes
At 2 p.m. the party winds down as Guardians mascot Slider leads an Opening Day parade across the Hope Memorial Bridge to Progressive Field.

For when fans get to Progressive Field there is more fun

There is more in store for fans upon their arrival at Progressive Field, the 33rd Home Opener, there that will begin the celebration of 125 years of Cleveland baseball.

The club will celebrate unforgettable moemnts during the course of the game and Akron native, trumpeter Jon Lampley, a touring member of the band O.A.R. will provide a pre-game music trifecta, performing the “Star Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America” and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” Lampley will release his second solo album, “Not to Self,” June 26 and tour with O.A.R. for the band’s 30th anniversary tour this summer.

There will also be a flyover of F-16s as well as DJ Nick Duve performing in the White Claw Right Field District once gates open.
