Fallout Season 2 lands second-best Prime Video spot with 83 million people tuning in during its first 13 weeks of release

The Fallout TV show remains one of the biggest video game adaptations so far, and at this point we could argue it’s the most critically successful one too. Prime Video’s global audiences seem to agree, as we’ve just learned over 83 million people have (at least) watched parts of Season 2.

On 30th March, The Hollywood Reporter shared the “first-party data” from Amazon’s streaming service, which provided the stunning numbers. Of course, it’s in the giant’s interest to make a super expensive production look successful, but previous external reports like Nielsen’s back up the claims. Moreover, it’s been over 13 weeks since its release on the platform, so Prime Video hasn’t exactly rushed to share its take on the show’s performance.

THR’s report also put things in perspective when comparing it to other massive hits on the subscription-based platform: “That puts Fallout in second place all time among returning series on the Amazon-owned streamer, behind only Reacher’s second season in 2023-24.” Total engagement with the series as a whole went up too, with 100 million viewers showing up around the time of S2’s release. There are too many good shows out there and we have little time, so we get delaying the trip to Fallout’s wasteland.

“Fallout continues to resonate in a powerful way with our global Prime Video audience, and reaching 100 million viewers is a testament to the incredible creative vision of our collaborators at Kilter Films, Bethesda Game Studios, creators and showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner and the entire cast and crew,” said Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios.

It’s important to note Fallout made a switch to a more traditionally weekly releases model with Season 2 versus the Netflix-like, binge-friendly Season 1 drop. In both cases, millions of people showed up for its unique brand of post-apocalypse, so we don’t see this show planning its exit in the near future. For now, Season 3 is set to begin filming as soon as next month.
