The Ohio State basketball team is about to get its first NCAA Tournament journey since the 2022 season, when it lost to Villanova in the second round. Left for dead after an embarrassing loss to Iowa away from home, the Buckeyes reeled off four straight wins before falling to No 1 seed Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament last week.
Now, it’s time to get things started as a No. 8 seed, ready to do battle against No. 9 seed TCU, which is also on a bit of a heater, having won six straight before falling to Kansas in the Big 12 Tournament.

With both teams playing well, it’s hard to figure out which team has the upper hand in this one, but that’s where the “ESPN Matchup Predictor” comes in. We like to follow the predictive model during football season, but it’s also worth checking in on when it comes to what it believes will happen with the OSU basketball team in the postseason.
So, what does the ESPN analytics say about the matchup between Ohio State and TCU? According to the percentage chances of winning, the ESPN Matchup Predictor likes the Buckeyes, giving them a 65.4% chance of winning on Thursday.
They obviously don’t play the games on paper, so we’ll see how it all plays out in Greenville, South Carolina, on Thursday, and remember — we’ll be there to provide live updates before, during, and after the game, so be sure to stay with us when all the March Madness tips off.
