Crimson Desert smashes another sales milestone, less than two weeks since its release

Less than two weeks since Crimson Desert made its slightly rocky debut, developer Pearl Abyss has celebrated another impressive sales milestone.

On its initial release last month, the open world adventure sold 2m copies in less than 24 hours. It then hit 3m sales in just five days. Now, the studio has announced that Crimson Desert has shifted 4m copies since 19th March. This figure is worldwide sales.

“Thank you to all the Greymanes who have been a part of this journey with us and for all of your incredible love and support,” the Crimson Desert team wrote on social media, sharing the news alongside a nice little infographic with the latest sales figure (see below).

The studio has been making a number of improvements to Crimson Desert since its initial release, which was marred with complaints such as cumbersome controls and use of AI art. Since then, though, Pearl Abyss has added new keyboard shortcuts and Private Storage at Howling Hill Camp as part of a rather hefty patch. More recently, the team has also made some tweaks to the game’s performance and stability.

We awarded Crimson Desert three stars on its initial release. “A vast world and even vaster array of MMO-like activities mix with glittering fidelity in Crimson Desert, but what good is it without much character, texture or charm?” asks Eurogamer’s Crimson Desert review.
