Crimson Desert developers “doing our utmost” to respond to its various launch issues, as game still passes huge one-day sales milestone

Crimson Desert – the ambitious single player RPG spin-off from Pearl Abyss – has sold through 2m copies following its release last night.

The studio shared news of the milestone this afternoon, saying it has been “humbled” by the reception, while simultaneously acknowledging the game’s rough edges at launch.

“Thank you so much to our fans, community, and everyone who has joined us in Pywel,” the Crimson Desert team wrote on social media.

“We will listen closely to the wide range of feedback shared by the community and work to make improvements quickly, doing our utmost to make the journey ahead even more enjoyable for our players.”

While Pearl Abyss has not specified which issues it will be seeking to improve, complaints have ranged from those who bought the game via the Xbox App only to discover the game just wouldn’t launch on their PCs, to poor performance on a base PS5 model and repeated assets. Some, meanwhile, have found the controls for Crimson Desert especially troublesome, and have already asked for a refund.

There is a lot of love for the cats in the game, though!

“A vast world and even vaster array of MMO-like activities mix with glittering fidelity in Crimson Desert, but what good is it without much character, texture or charm?” asks Eurogamer’s own Crimson Desert review.
