Hampshire have signed South African fast bowler Codi Yusuf for the opening block of County Championship games.
The right-arm bowler and right-handed batter arrives at the Utilita Bowl after deals to sign Michael Neser and Jayden Seales fell through.
The 27-year-old played for Durham in last season’s County Championship, taking 19 wickets across five games.
He made his Test debut last summer against Zimbabwe, taking 10 wickets in two matches.
“Naturally it is disappointing not to have Jayden with us, but we are pleased to have secured an excellent replacement in Codi Yusuf,” said Hampshire director of cricket Giles White.
“Codi comes highly recommended by Russell (Domingo) and brings valuable international experience, as well as familiarity with English conditions following his spell with Durham last season.
“The past couple of weeks have been frustrating as we have had to adjust our plans at short notice, but we are delighted to welcome Codi and look forward to his arrival.”
Hampshire get their County Championship campaign under way on Friday when they host Essex at the Utilita Bowl.
