JOIN THE PARTY: It may have been her debut front-row appearance, but it turns out Wet Leg’s Rhian Teasdale is no stranger to fashion week. Before the English musician hit the limelight, she said, “I was working as a showroom assistant, so I didn’t see the light of day.” As such, she was determined to have some fun this time around. “As an artist, it’s just a bit of a knees-up for us,” she said.
At the Rabanne show on Thursday, Teasdale was catching up with fellow musicians Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus of Boygenius, with whom she had spent the previous evening at the Acne after party, which included a performance from Swedish singer-songwriter and DJ Robyn and a DJ set by Romy.
“We got there and no one was dancing and I was like, ‘we have work to do,’ said Dacus. “Our friend Ashley is the best dancer, and we all put on sunglasses and closed our eyes.” Despite the late night, sunglasses were not part of their outfits for Rabanne. “We went to bed at, like, three, but hopefully you can’t see that right now,” Dacus said.
Teasdale had been undecided about her look for the show. “I tried on these two dresses separately and they very kindly let me leave with both of them,” she said. “I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to wear to the show and I ended up wearing both of them,” she said, highlighting her creative layering of a striped polo-collared dress with a lamé strappy number.
Thai actor and singer Yongsin Wongpanitnont, best known under his nickname Yorch and part of K-pop band Pow, was also soaking in the Paris Fashion Week ambience for the first time. “I’m very excited. It’s very beautiful Paris, I like it so much,” said Yorch, who had posted a series of photos of himself playfully posing with a French staple, a croissant, the day before. Fashion-wise, he said, “I like to try a lot of styles, and whatever style makes me confident.”
