As The Witcher 4 continues its journey toward its massively anticipated release, it’s been confirmed some key Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 development talent has made the jump to CD Projekt and Ciri’s new adventure.

Karel Kolmann announced his move to the famed Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher studio in a message shared on social media, appending it with a simple, “Things are happening!”. Kolmann, if the name isn’t immediately familiar, was part of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 studio Warhorse for eight years, where he variously served as writer, scripter, and senior game designer.

More recently, Kolmann took on the role of lead gameplay designer for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Hardcore mode, which arrived back in April as part of a free post-launch update. As for what Kolmann is doing at CD Projekt, he’ll be working as a senior quest designer on The Witcher 4.

Work on CD Projekt’s latest Witcher instalment was confirmed to have begun back in 2022, but it wasn’t until last November that it officially entered “full-scale production”. Since then, a smattering of details have emerged, including confirmation Ciri is taking over from Geralt of Rivia as the game’s protagonist (although Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle has hinted his character will be “part of” the new game), and we got a small taste of its action earlier this year.

The bad news for Witcher fans, though, is there’s still a long wait until its eventual arrival. CD Projekt previously confirmed it won’t be launching until after the end of 2026, suggesting it might even be a next-gen game.
