Fresh Start Women’s Foundation will present its inaugural Icon Award to Carolina Herrera and Fresh Start cofounder Pat Petznick Wick.
Wes Gordon, creative director of Carolina Herrera, will accept the award on Herrera’s behalf at Fresh Start Women’s Foundation’s 30th annual gala at the Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Saturday. The milestone evening will bring together more than 800 philanthropists and community leaders in support of Fresh Start’s mission to empower Arizona women to achieve self-sufficiency and success.
Herrera broke barriers throughout her career. Born in Venezuela, she launched her namesake fashion house in 1980 and quickly became known for her refined aesthetic and timeless elegance. She has dressed first ladies, cultural leaders and global style icons.
A highlight will be the signature fashion show. Presented in partnership with longtime Fresh Start supporters Tim Braun and Neiman Marcus, alongside Carolina Herrera, the runway will feature the Carolina Herrera spring 2026 collection that debuted in Madrid.
This year’s gala theme, “A Legacy of Impact, a Future of Possibility,” recognizes the intergenerational change made possible when a community invests in women pursuing their highest potential.
In building Fresh Start, Wick inspired a community of women to support, lift up and create opportunity for more than 65,000 Arizona women over more than three decades. The organization serves more than 5,000 women each year who are 18 years and older. Sixty percent are single mothers, 67 percent make an annual income less than $25,000, and 72 percent are domestic violence survivors. Fresh Start provides focused programs, services, access to training and education, as well as employment and career services to help women reach their goals.
This honor for Herrera comes on the heels of Gordon’s fall 2026 show, dedicated to women in the arts, and the announcement of the Carolina Herrera and CFDA Women in Design Scholarship on International Women’s Day.
