Caitlin Clark’s first signature sneaker is expected to debut near the end of the year, but more immediately in the pipeline is a pair of Nike Kobes made to honor her WNBA Rookie of the Year award.

The Caitlin Clark x Nike Kobe 5 Protro Rookie of the Year is slated to release next week, nearly a year after they were first seen and Clark herself said, “You won’t get them.” Its red and silver treatment combines the color of the Indiana Fever’s alternate uniforms, which Clark wore to receive her trophy, and the silver prize itself.

Metallic silver shines through the upper and midsole, while red is used for the outsole, collar, tongue and branding. It’s a straightforward arrangement, and one that comes with an extra set of laces in navy to match the Fever’s away unis.

The “ROTY” is the third colorway of a Nike Kobe sneaker to be made for Clark and subsequently release to the public. First came the Kobe 5 Protro Indiana Fever last summer, followed in the fall by the Kobe 6 Protro “Light Armory Blue.” Yet another Kobe 5 Protro for the WNBA star is expected this summer in Coconut Milk.

Clark has favored the Kobe 5s and Kobe 6s throughout her collegiate and professional career, and the expectation is that her own sneaker will incorporate some elements of the basketball shoes that are still widely worn on courts today.

The Caitlin Clark x Nike Kobe 6 Protro Rookie of the Year will release Wednesday through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $190.
