C.P. Company and Mackintosh Team Up on Outerwear Collaboration

LONDON — C.P. Company and Mackintosh, two leading outerwear specialists, have teamed up for the very first time for a collaboration that combines heritage and material know-how.

The collaboration features Mackintosh’s signature coat, integrated with a removable Goggle hood, available in beige and black. There is also a jacket based on C.P. Company’s Goggle style.

Both styles are produced in Scotland and made with bonded rubberized cotton, which combines two layers of cotton around a thin core of rubber.

Vince Hashimoto, chief executive officer of Mackintosh, said the two companies have been waiting for the right opportunity to create something special.

“There’s a natural synergy between our brands — a duality. Both brands have deep heritage and craftsmanship behind them, but are equally forward-looking and innovative. We’re really happy with the result. It’s a unique capsule collection that truly blends Italian technical sportswear design with the uncompromising elegance of British rainwear heritage,” added Hashimoto.

Lorenzo Osti, president of C.P. Company, said his father Massimo always respected Mackintosh.

“The idea of coating or bonding natural fibers to add performance aspects they don’t naturally have was exactly his obsession. Just to remember, Mackintosh patented rubberized cotton in 1823, while my father created rubber flex and rubber wool in the 1980s, applying the same logic but to different base fabrics,” he added.

Going forward, Osti believes there’s a lot more to explore beyond reworking house icons.

“Mackintosh brings over two centuries of expertise in waterproof fabrication; we bring 50 years of research into garment dyeing, coatings and fabric development. For both of us, it’s a dialogue between heritage and experimentation. The potential to push each other further is real. The best collaborations are not one-off drops but conversations that evolve over time,” he continued.
