BTS’s Jun Kook Becomes Chanel Fragrances and Beauty Global Ambassador

MUSICAL NOTE: Jung Kook, member of the South Korean boy band BTS, has been named as a new global ambassador of Chanel Fragrances and Beauty.

“I am truly delighted to join Chanel Fragrances and Beauty as global ambassador,” Kook said in a statement released Thursday. “For me, Chanel is a pioneering house that cherishes its timeless heritage while constantly reinventing itself with modernity. As an artist, I try to stay true to my own style, while embracing new challenges, so this partnership with Chanel Fragrance and Beauty is especially meaningful to me.”

Chanel said that with Kook’s appointment, the house reaffirms its commitment to embody the spirit of its time through partnering with talents who inspire and reinvent the codes of creation today.

“I have long admired his incredible talent, his music career and his distinctive commitment to self-expression, not to mention his bold creative choices,” Thomas du Pré de Saint Maur, head of global creative resources for Chanel Fragrances and Beauty, said in the statement. “It perfectly embodies the essence of our house.

“He is a true source of inspiration for the new generation, instilling passion and creativity wherever he goes,” du Pré de Saint Maur continued. “I am sincerely enthusiastic about this future collaboration.”

In 2022, he performed “Dreamers,” which was the official soundtrack of the Fifa World Cup in Qatar, during its opening ceremony. A year later, he released his first solo single, “Seven (feat. Latto),” which the RIAA certified platinum in November 2023 and topped the Billboard Hot 100 and Spotify’s Top Song Global chart.

Kook released “3D (feat. Jack Harlow)” in September, and after, his first solo album “Golden” in November 2023.
