The reveal and release in 2021 of ‘Metroid 5’, better known as Metroid Dread, caused a flurry of excitement which Nintendo followed up with Metroid Prime Remastered in February 2023. Add in the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in 2025, and the bounty has been good for Samus fans in the Switch generation.

But what’s the best Metroid game of all time? This list presents every Metroid game, ranked for your pleasure. We’ve included remasters, remakes, and spin-offs, although there are a few exclusions (see the FAQ for full details).
