Berkshire’s Operating Profit Falls on Insurance Underwriting


Its annual insurance underwriting pre-tax earnings fell 17% in 2025 from a year ago. Geico, the main contributor to Berkshire’s insurance results, posted pretax underwriting earnings that fell roughly 13% to $6.8 billion in the year, driven in part by higher advertising expenses, which allowed the unit to gain clients over the year.
