Bella Hadid’s Tired Beauty in the Prada Fall 2026 Ready-to-wear Show

Elements of the “tired girl” makeup trend took hold of the Prada fall 2026 ready-to-wear presentation on Thursday morning during Milan Fashion Week, where Bella Hadid appeared between bouts of layers and tangled hair. The 29-year-old supermodel was almost unrecognizable with sunken cheeks and a ring of charcoal shadow and gel liner circling her eyes.

Crafted by makeup artist Lucia Pieroni, Hadid’s dark eye aesthetic was consistent with that of the other models, who also shot cold stares at the cameras as they stormed down the runway. The look, while certainly gothic, was used to help portray the everyday woman plagued by constant change, as imagined by co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons portrayal. Everything from the heavy makeup down to the ratty ponytail and the loose-hanging, tethered garments contributed to Prada’s and Simons’ purposefully messy characters.

The “tired makeup” trend erupted on the beauty scene late last year in a bid to embrace exhaustion. Jenna Ortega was among the group of celebrities to popularize the style on the red carpet first before Paris-based influencer Lara Violetta used it to combat the “clean girl” aesthetic clogging the online algorithm.

“The whole look leans into what some might call imperfections, and that’s exactly the point,” celebrity makeup artist Tonya Riner previously told WWD. “It’s not about perfection. It’s about letting individuality take the lead.”

“It’s darker and edgier. It’s all about energy, and right now on social media, people are connecting with these looks that feel more real, not filtered or overdone,” said makeup artist Alexa Persico. “For so long, it’s been all about brightness, flawlessness, faking awake. This look embraces the dark circles, the smudged liner, the sleepy vibe, and that’s what makes it beautiful in its own way. It’s makeup that matches your mood, not just your outfit.”
