Basic materials stocks weigh on S&P/TSX composite, U.S. stock markets up




TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index lost ground on Tuesday, weighed down by losses in the basic materials sector, as U.S. markets moved higher.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 177.16 points at 32,896.55.
