Avirex x Timberland Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boot Release Date

Timberland is loading up its next limited-edition Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boot, this time with legacy leather maker Avirex.

Instead of the more extreme makeovers the iconic boot has been given in recent months, the upcoming Avirex collaboration keeps things classic, adding only new textures and branding to the traditional wheat Timberland look.

The usual yellow nubuck shade has been replaced with a tumbled leather featuring a finish reminiscent of what’s the buttery material found on a well-loved vintage Avirex leather jacket. At the collar, the padded leather has been given a croc-embossed and features a stitched-on emblem of the Avirex “A” logo. Further custom branding appears at the heel of the midsole, which features stamped Avirex wordmark. The boots come packaged with traditional two-tone brown-and-yellow shoelaces along with an alternate set in orange.

Founded by Jeff Clyman in 1975 as a military apparel brand, Avirex was adopted as a street style favorite in the 1990s. Clyman sold the company in 2006 to Centric Brands, which has operated Avirex since. While it’s always been a staple, the brand has experienced a resurgence in recent years with the popularity of vintage ‘90s and 2000s style.

As for Timberland, the outdoor brand’s Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boot defies trends, remaining popular year after year. This year, it’s received notable collaborations from brands and retailers including Supreme, One Block Down and Snipes. Timberland has also found success with its in-line spins on the boot including woven leather and luxe Horween Leather Co. editions. And in November, a $85,000 version of Timberland’s Louis Vuitton collaboration surfaced featuring 18K gold hardware.

The Avirex x Timberland Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boot will be released Dec. 15 from timberland.com and select retailers including DTLR. Retail pricing for the collaboration is $225.
