Assassin’s Creed Netflix Series Casts Prometheus Star Naomi Rapace

Assassin’s Creed fans, listen up: we’ve got more casting announcements for Netflix’s upcoming TV adaptation of the beloved video game series, including Prometheus star Noomi Rapace.

Alongside Rapace, Corrado Invernizzi, Sean Harris, and Ramzy Bedia have all been confirmed to be joining the show in currently undisclosed recurring roles, according to Variety. So far, we haven’t seen any official character for the cast, which has to date been confirmed to include Lola Petticrew, Zachary Hart, Toby Wallace, Tanzyn Crawford, and Laura Marcus.

The show’s official logline calls it a “high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.”

Of course, this will all sound familiar to Assassin’s Creed fans, who are familiar with the series’ history-spanning war between the Assassins and the Templars, two rival factions that operate in secret. The series frequently focuses on superpowered artifacts that both groups hunt throughout history, often via the memories of different Assassins in various time periods. The first game was released in 2007 and the series’ many entries have now sold more than 230 million units worldwide since then.

Unofficial reports have pegged Netflix’s series as being set during Ancient Rome, with an all-new story rather than a direct adaptation of any existing video game.

Halo series showrunner David Wiener and Roberto Patino, a writer and producer on Westworld, will showrun and executive produce the Assassin’s Creed series, which is based on one of the most popular and bestselling video games ever made. But so far, there’s no word on when exactly to expect to catch it on streaming — or really any other details at all, yet.
