A little game you may have heard of has finally made its Switch 2 debut today – Pokémon Pokopia, the Animal Crossing-like Pokémon spin-off from Game Freak and Omega Force.

But, while many are already keen to hop on board the Pokopia train, another is instead looking to spruce up their Animal Crossing: New Horizon island with an homage to Ditto and co.

The island in question comes from Reddit user owendusk, and is known as Dittonga (a portmanteau of Ditto, Pokémon Pokopia’s main character, and Tonga, the Polynesian kingdom made up of over 170 South Pacific islands).

You can see an overview of how Dittonga looks below, and honestly it puts my own Animal Crossing to shame. My goodness my rivers and land masses look so plebeian in comparison to owendusk’s expertly carved Ditto island.

But the attention to detail does not stop there. Owendusk has even come up with lore for Dittonga, which is:

“According to Pokopia intel, Kanto has essentially imploded into a post-apocalyptic wasteland, taking Ditto’s trainer and home along with it.

“So while Ditto is busy with the monumental task of refounding an entire region from scratch (poké-bureaucracy remains criminally underrated as a career path), someone had to put a roof over his head.

“That someone was me.”

Owendusk has also adorned their Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s villager with some duds that represent both the rather cute human version of Pokopia’s Ditto and the less cute but still very much important Pokémon version.

Ok, well, when I say they have dressed their villager to represent the Pokémon version of Ditto, I mean they have made them purple-skinned and as nude as Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows. But, Owendusk’s homage to the human Ditto is rather cute, and includes pieces from the New Horizons wardrobe like Mom’s Knapsack and the pullover jacket.

Other residents on Owendusk’s island of Dittonga, meanwhile, include Joey, representing Psyduck (“he always looks like he’s trying to remember something important”), Puddles as Lickitung (“both pink. Both equipped with an extendable tongue. Genuinely unsettling on both counts”) and Freckles as Magikarp (“Freckles has the same vacant stare, the same reddish hue, and an absolute devotion to fishing”), to name just three.

Like I said, Owendusk has really given their Pokopia-flavoured Animal Crossing island a great deal of thought, not to mention what I assume is a great deal of time and dedication, too. (Looks awkwardly at the overgrown weeds and general chaos on my own island…)
