Never mind the 1998 Canada Supreme Court Reference Re Secession of Quebec that ruled:
Quebec cannot secede from Canada unilaterally; however, a clear vote on a clear question to secede in a referendum should lead to negotiations between Quebec and the rest of Canada for secession. However, above all, secession would require a constitutional amendment.
And also:
so long as a people has the meaningful exercise of its right to self-determination within an existing nation state, there is no right to secede unilaterally.
Despite all Alberta’s whining about not getting to do what it wants, it has the meaningful exercise of its right to self-determination.
Please let all the UCP MLA recalls be successful. We need adults in the Legislature, not screaming toddlers.
