As part of the airline’s 100th year of operations, American Airlines has announced further offerings on the carrier’s onboard menus, which will debut in the coming months, ultimately elevating passenger experience, especially within the airline’s premium cabins. While the airline had previously announced it would serve regional delicacies such as Texas Barbecue from the airline’s hometown of Dallas, Texas, these new announcements indicate that the airline will be introducing delicacies from the 1920s, but with modern touches of the 2020s, ensuring the meals represent today’s standards of luxury.
These delicacies will be rolled out in phases in the coming months, with the first phase beginning next week, when customers will be able to pre-order their celebratory meals ahead of their flight.
Inspired Delicacies From The 1920s To Mark A Century
Having first taken flight in 1926,
American Airlines is celebrating its Centennial anniversary this year, and the carrier is rolling out a number of special luxuries and amenities onboard its aircraft to ensure the airline’s passengers are also celebrating this special year. One of these key specialties are celebratory dishes inspired by the 1920s, bringing “a modern interpretation of the era to today’s premium travel experience”. This will start with allowing passengers to pre-order their meals starting Tuesday, February 9th, followed by menus being introduced onboard starting March.
In March, the airline will be debuting menus onboard its international and transcontinental Flagship First and Business Class, followed by the launch of these Centennial dishes onboard American Airlines’ domestic first class services in April. As per the airline’s press release, passengers travelling on Flagship First and Business can expect elevated dining experiences, including delicacies such as Classic Prawn Cocktail, Waldorf Salad, Caviar, Blinis, Deviled Eggs, Beef Wellington with bearnaise sauce and vegetables, and Chicken Florentine roulade.
While the meals on Flagship First and Business can be enjoyed by passengers from March till August, the meals available for passengers travelling on domestic first are a bit limited in comparison, and include the Crisp Waldorf Salad, Boursin Cream Cheese Dip, Beef Wellington, and Pecan Tart. The airline’s SVP of Customer Experience, Rhonda Crawford, stated,
“These menus celebrate the flavors that defined the early days of American Airlines in a way that feels special and memorable for today’s travelers.”
Some Regional Delicacies As Well
Apart from the time-inspired delicacies from 100 years ago, last month, the airline had also stated that as part of its Centennial celebrations, it is introducing regional delicacies from its home base in Dallas, Texas, by partnering up with the nationwide recognized brand of Pecan Lodge to serve meals such as Texas Barbecue, Brisket Sandwiches, and other sides, which can only be available by pre-ordering the meals using the airline’s mobile application or website, prior to the flight.
However, these delicacies are for the time being scheduled to only be available to domestic first-class passengers on a select number of routes connecting the airline’s home base
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), with New York JFK Airport and
LaGuardia Airport (LGA). These are routes served by the carrier with multiple daily frequencies, using its fleet of narrowbody aircraft, including Boeing 737 family aircraft and Airbus A320 family aircraft.
Apart from new menus, the airline has also stated that it will be introducing new celebratory aspects on board its flights, including providing passengers with limited-edition amenity kits and centennial branded inflight pajamas for passengers in the premium cabins. Furthermore, the airline has also stated that it will launch a centennial site where passengers and the public can go through the airline’s 100 years of history and even purchase commemorative merchandise.
American Airlines Adds Texas Barbecue To First Class On Select Transcon Routes
With the airline celebrating its centennial anniversary this year, American Airlines is introducing a lot of new products and services.
Continuing To Elevate Inflight Passenger Experiences
This being American Airlines’ 100-year anniversary, the airline is going all out in improving its in-flight experience, constantly providing passengers with new onboard comforts and services. This includes the ongoing rollout of complimentary in-flight WiFi services across its fleet to the airline’s AAdvantage members and forming new partnerships with brands such as Champagne Bollinger and Lavazza Coffee.
Additionally, the airline also recently took delivery of its new Airbus A321XLR aircraft type, which also features the carrier’s brand new Flagship Suites, and American Airlines currently operates this aircraft on long-haul transcontinental routes such as JFK to Los Angeles. However, the operational range of the aircraft opens up new markets for the airline, wherein the carrier has the reliability of capacity afforded by a narrowbody, while also being able to provide passengers with a premium experience similar to that of travelling on a widebody aircraft.
The carrier is also set to launch services to several new destinations in the coming months, and this growth in network will be supported by the continuous growth in the airline’s fleet size, as the carrier takes delivery of more narrowbody and widebody aircraft.
