Air Canada flight collides with vehicle at New York’s Laguardia Airport

Police in New York say an Air Canada flight crashed into a Port Authority vehicle after landing late Sunday at LaGuardia Airport.

The New York Police Department confirmed the collision to The Associated Press, but did not immediately offer additional information.

A spokesperson for the New York City Fire Department says crews were called about a plane that crashed into a vehicle on the runway.

A web page for the Federal Aviation Administration says LaGuardia is closed to aircraft.

An Associated Press photo from the scene shows a jet branded with an Air Canada logo tilted up in the air on top of the vehicle and there is severe damage to the front of the plane.

Air Canada did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The report by The Canadian Press was first published March 23, 2026.
