Canada’s snowboarders, among the most reliable athletes on the team at recent Olympics, likely to perform some ridiculous trick, end up on the podium and then declare that they would rather be shredding out in the backcountry, came up all but empty in Milan. The one medal the baggy-clothed brigade did manage came from Éliot Grondin in snowboard cross, and that was a silver that came within three one-hundredths of a second to being a gold. A podium finish, yes, but also a metaphorical hoof in the nuggets.
