This view, however, misses an important point. That point is scale. If Aboriginal title recognition were over private lands confined to Richmond only, where the land is valued at around $2 billion, this is an amount the government can absorb. If we are now learning that entire cities like Kamloops are being claimed, and perhaps more unknown negotiations are underway, we are approaching a level of financial burden the province cannot shoulder.
