New Balance added to its lifestyle offerings this year with several new models including the retro-informed 2010 and the futuristic Abzorb 2000. Now, both shoes have received color-shifting iridescent makeovers which are available now while supplies last.

Both the New Balance Abzorb 2000 and New Balance 2010 are available from select retailers in Black/Iridescent color schemes. The shade-shifting treatment is used liberally on the Abzorb 2000, where it covers the synthetic upper with an iridescent effect which is also seen on the shoe’s signature Abzorb SBS visible cushioning. It’s a look that’s fitting for the Y2K-inspired model, which arrived at retail in June and has been released in a plethora of colorways as well as collaborations with recording artist Aminé and designer Joe Freshgoods.

As for the New Balance 2010, the model takes a more reserved approach with the iridescent effect which is befitting of the shoe’s throwback aesthetic. With a majority of the model colored black, the iridescent sheen is seen on the 2010’s overlays and heel Abzorb SBS cushioning. In comparison to the Abzorb 2000’s use of iridescence, the 2010 is far more subtle, but still offers a layer of color that hasn’t yet been seen on the new model.

The reptile-like iridescent finish is frequently seen on athletic sneakers, although it’s hardly the first look that comes to mind when people think of New Balance, which has built a reputation around its staple gray styles. These new releases offer a change of pace for the Boston-based sportswear company.

After arriving on New Balance’s e-commerce store and from select retailers on Wednesday, some stockists are already beginning to sell out of select sizes in the Abzorb 2000 and 2010.
