I rarely have “nothing to wear” days anymore, and I attribute that to having a closet full of neutral items that easily mix and match. With minimalist staples making up the foundation of my wardrobe, getting dressed feels easy.

I also like being able to fall back on “uniform dressing” when I’m feeling uninspired on what to wear—the kinds of outfits that always feel right when I put them on. Most recently, one such outfit has been a fitted cardigan with capris, ballet flats, and a trench coat. If you have the everyday basics down, you can then build off of a simple base like this with a bag, earrings, or another statement piece of clothing.
