The Outnet Partners With Catches’ AI Fit Tech to Reduce Returns and Boost Online Fashion Sales

PARIS – Fashion tech company Catches is bringing its AI-powered virtual fit technology to retail, partnering with The Outnet.

The company is launching PredictiveFit with the luxury off-price retailer, which was acquired by Icon Luxury Group in the first quarter of 2026. The rollout marks the first time Catches is making its virtual fitting technology available to a multi-brand retailer, following a six-month partnership with luxury label Amiri.

The Outnet is betting that a more accurate picture of how clothes fit individual bodies can help fashion retailers increase online sales while tackling one of ecommerce’s most persistent costs: returns.

“Returns have always been a major issue,” Joseph Edery, founder and chief executive officer of Icon Luxury Group, said in an interview. “Our return rate is quite high, and the goal, of course, is to reduce it – less friction for the customer increases conversion, increases profitability.”

For multi-brand retailers, inconsistent sizing across brands makes the problem particularly difficult to tackle.

“We’ve been trying to solve it for a long time,” said Edery, adding that the company has trialed several different tech solutions without success. “It doesn’t really solve the issue because every brand fits differently.”

Shoppers often order multiple sizes to compensate, he said, increasing costs for the retailer and its brands, as well as creating friction for customers.

“It’s not just the money, but it’s also about the customer journey and experience as well,” he added.

Catches works to show proportion and how garments behave in motion, rather than simply generating an AI image of a static item.

“A lot of these models out there — they look beautiful, but they’re not really helping anyone,” said Catches co-founder Ed Voyce.

The new PredictiveFit technology is designed for retailers that sell products from multiple brands but often lack the manufacturing data needed to model each garment precisely.

“This is very disruptive to the 25-year e-commerce history of high returns because [a company] just can’t figure out how to get the customer what they want and serving it up to them exactly right at the brand level, at the fit level,” said Edery.

Catches’ RealFit technology, launched with Amiri in March, uses brand-held information such as patterns, fabric specifications and grading. PredictiveFit instead uses product data already held by retailers, converting it into simulation-ready digital garments which can replicate weight, structure, drape and movement.

Both systems combine physics-based simulation with AI to create a digital twin of the shopper and show how a garment fits, drapes and moves across different sizes. The technology is built on Nvidia’s Omniverse and CUDA platforms and uses the Newton Physics Engine.

“The results Catches has delivered with Amiri are exactly what physically grounded technology looks like in practice – not a generic recommendation, but a simulation of how a real garment moves on a real body,” said Nvidia vice president and general manager of AI for retail Azita Martin.

“PredictiveFit now brings that same capability to any retailer, at catalog scale. This is the moment physics-based simulation moves from a feature retailers test to infrastructure they run their business on,” she added.

For The Outnet, which carries more than 350 designers and serves customers in more than 100 countries, the challenge is particularly relevant: sizing and fit can vary significantly across brands.

Over six months, Amiri’s conversion rate increased 55 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis, add-to-cart activity increased 80 percent, units sold climbed 39 percent and gross sales rose 56 percent, Voyce said.

The comparisons are against comparable Amiri products styles without Catches’ tech. Voyce also reported a 30 percent reduction in fit-related returns so far during the Amiri partnership.

“What’s fascinating about these numbers is that we’ve still got a lot of UI to optimize,” said Voyce, who added that those numbers are conservative. “So we’re really excited about where this can go and what it means for the whole industry.”

Continued improvement on the UI would make the fitting experience easier and more intuitive for shoppers, Voyce added.

On Wednesday, Catches is also introducing Casi, a personal AI fashion agent designed to help consumers discover products, receive recommendations and find their size through messaging platforms such as WhatsApp. Voyce compared it to a “pocket stylist.”

“It is purpose built to find and acquire garments for people that will fit them, which is the number one value out of that proposition,” he said.

Catches has raised $10 million from investors including LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton director of image and environment Antoine Arnault, and model and impact investor Natalia Vodianova, his wife. Other backers include former Tommy Hilfiger chief executive officer Gary Sheinbaum and former BCG head of luxury Sarah Willersdorf.
