The Chargers’ 2026 season has been nothing short of a disaster.
Los Angeles is 0-6 and heading into their Week 7 bye, and things don’t look bright. Instead of being in the playoff picture, many are shifting their focus to the 2027 NFL Draft for the Chargers.

The Chargers are one of two teams that remain winless. With that in mind, Los Angeles has better odds of landing the No. 1 pick than of making the playoffs.
According to The Athletic’s NFL projected draft order, the Chargers have an 18% chance at grabbing the No. 1 pick, just behind the Titans (24%) and Dolphins (34%).
The Athletic also noted that the Chargers have a 67% chance of getting a top 5 pick and a 91% chance of getting a top-10 pick.
The Chargers will likely remain in the top 10, given where their season is headed.
The offense has been abysmal under Mike McDaniel, and entering the bye week, there was chatter that he may be out of a job. Instead, McDaniel is set to continue calling the plays on offense (for now), and Jim Harbaugh said they’re “looking into everything.”

“We’re looking into everything at this point, and that process is ongoing,” Harbaugh said. “Particularly offensively, scoring more points. . . . 0-6 does not give the privilege to rule out anything at this point, and we’re looking into everything.”
The Chargers rank 30th in scoring offense and 26th in total yards per game. Justin Herbert has the league’s worst eight interceptions through the first six games and has played the worst football of his career under McDaniel.
The No. 1 pick was nowhere near the Chargers’ minds entering the season, but that could change as they approach the halfway point if their struggles continue.
