Delta Air Lines’ Major New 18-Hour Ultra-Long Nonstop Route: See Flights Now

Delta Air Lines is inching closer and closer to announcing a new nonstop service to Asia. Rumours have been swirling for weeks that the SkyTeam carrier will debut in Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), with the airline likely to begin flying from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

For Delta, Singapore is not a new destination, with the airline previously serving the Lion City via Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) up until 2019. This time, the route will be served nonstop, with the Airbus A350-900. This aircraft type is the largest in the airline’s current fleet, with the A350-1000 set to begin flying for the airline next year.

Will Delta Serve Singapore From Los Angeles Or Seattle?

At this time, it remains unclear whether Delta will pick Singapore to be served from Los Angeles or Seattle. Both airports are key to the airline’s West Coast network and Asia-Pacific growth. Los Angeles has been instrumental in recent years with network expansion for the carrier, such as the airline’s announcements of nonstop flights to Hong Kong (HKG) and Manila (MNL).

When Delta adds services to Singapore, it will face stiff competition from two other major full-service airlines, including Singapore Airlines, which flies the route up to 11 times a week. It is likely that Delta would serve Singapore up to three times a week, offering less than a third of Singapore Airlines’ capacity.

Singapore Airlines is by far the largest operator to the US from Singapore, with services to five airports including Los Angeles, New York–JFK, Newark, San Francisco, and Seattle/Tacoma. Seattle was added back in September 2019 nonstop, before being withdrawn during the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

Flights returned via Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in December 2021, until they ultimately returned to nonstop service in June 2022. Flights to Vancouver from Singapore have been served by Singapore intermittently across the last few decades, and the route was ultimately axed due to low demand.

Air Canada has flown the route since April 2024. However, this will be terminated, with the carrier citing commercial challenges, with its final flight taking off in January 2027. Current Asian destinations from Seattle include Beijing–Capital, Chongqing and Haikou (Hainan Airlines), Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific), Manila (Philippine Airlines), and Seoul Incheon International Airport (Alaska Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Korean Air).

Shanghai Pudong (Delta Air Lines), Singapore (Singapore Airlines), Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (China Airlines, Delta Air Lines, EVA Air, Starlux Airlines), and Tokyo–Haneda (All Nippon Airways, Delta Air Lines) are also present. Elsewhere, the airport has links to Tokyo Narita (Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Japan Airlines), Dubai (Emirates), and Doha (Qatar Airways).

Data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, indicates that Los Angeles (LAX) and Seattle (SEA) account for close to half of all of Delta’s Asia-Pacific flights. Combined, the two airports record a total of 3,054 flights in 2026, compared to 6,643 overall. Los Angeles is the market leader for the airline, with 1,595 services this year, an average of more than 30 per week.

Seattle, on the other hand, records 1,459 total flights, or 28 weekly flights. From Los Angeles, Delta operates to eight seasonal and year-round destinations, including Sydney, Tokyo (Narita), Hong Kong, Shanghai, Melbourne, Auckland, Manila, and Brisbane. Meanwhile, from Seattle, the carrier flies to Tokyo (Haneda and Narita), Seoul, Shanghai, and Taipei.
