Escape the Backrooms is throwing an After Party with three new levels this December

Escape the Backrooms is adding three new levels this December, as part of a party-themed update called the After Party.

Publisher Secret Mode announced the news on 8th October, after the update was teased at the Triple-I Initiative showcase, the same presentation in which we learned the developer of El Paso, Elsewhere announced Gods With Badges.

The After Party is meant to bring a celebratory vibe to the co-op horror game, with new skins to dress up in alongside the new levels, so we can indulge in a little cake before running screaming from the entities that live in the Backrooms.

Before then, a selection of free and paid cosmetics is arriving in October. It sounds like you’ll be able to dress up as an entity yourself, if you fancy scaring your friends.

Escape the Backrooms, from developer Fancy Games, has now been played by more than 12 million people since it launched in Early Access in 2022. It’s a one to four-player co-op horror game with more than 30 levels, and is available on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Oh, and there was that massively successful Hollywood movie, too.

ICYMI, film and TV show adaptations of Arc Raiders and The Finals are in the works and developer Embark Studios is collaborating with Chernin Entertainment, part of the studio behind A24’s Backrooms film, to get the job done.
