‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Has An Exclusive Magic Card — But There’s a Catch

Dec. 18 is one of the most anticipated days of the year for Marvel fans, as it is when Avengers: Doomsday finally premieres in theaters. Some moviegoers will be eligible to receive an exclusive Doctor Doom Magic: The Gathering card during their screening, but they must meet specific conditions.

Requirements to receive a free Avengers Magic: The Gathering card in theaters

  • Watch an Infinity Vision showtime of Avengers: Doomsday
  • Attend an opening weekend showtime (Thursday-Sunday)
  • Be a Regal Crown Club member

The giveaway card is a special variation of the “Doctor Doom, King of Latveria” commander card from the Doom Prevails preconstructed deck. While the card has no special abilities, it features different art and will be distributed exclusively during Avengers: Doomsday screenings. In the original, he sits on a throne holding a magic orb, while the Regal Cinemas exclusive card shows him standing menacingly, surrounded by Doombots.

Magic: The Gathering cards can be expensive and resold for thousands, even millions, of dollars, so it’ll be fascinating to see what kind of market emerges around this card. Avengers: Doomsday is going to be a huge film, after all.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters all across the United States on Friday, Dec. 18. The opening week will go down in history as a sci-fi theatrical showdown, as Doomsday shares its release date with Dune: Part Three, another exciting film that has already sold thousands of tickets in advance. Unfortunately for Marvel fans, they won’t be able to watch Doomsday in IMAX during its opening weekend as Dune has secured the IMAX showtimes for the first few weeks after release. Instead, Marvel Studios is releasing it in “Infinity Vision”

For those unfamiliar with Infinity Vision, it’s a Disney-made certification for premium screens that guarantees an enhanced presentation for Disney releases. Fans looking for an Infinity Vision theater to watch Doomsday during its opening weekend might want to consider Regal Cinemas to get this “Doctor Doom, King of Latveria” Magic: The Gathering card, which is likely why the collaboration came to be in the first place.
