For the first time in the series, Grand Theft Auto 6 lets you use headphones to listen to radio stations and podcasts

GTA 6 will let you listen to radio stations while not in a car, by wearing headphones and earbuds connected to smartphones. GTA 6 also introduces on-demand podcasts, so you can binge true crime while also doing true crime – something like that.

“For the first time ever, Grand Theft Auto 6 introduces a series of on-demand podcasts for Jason and Lucia to experience beyond Leonida’s terrestrial radio,” Rockstar wrote on its website, “with both radio and podcasts available to listen to in vehicles and on foot through newly introduced headphones and earbuds connected to their smartphones.”

Rockstar announced these additions while detailing six of radio stations coming to GTA 6, which appear to be hosted by incredibly famous real-world singers (according to Rolling Stone), while offering musical previews of what we’ll hear there.

The radio stations are:

  • Cocoteo FM: A latin music channel hosted by Bad Bunny and RaiNao (in-game names El Martillo and La Gata)
  • Back Country Radio: A country music channel, hosted by Lana Del Rey, Morgan Wallen and Jeremy Dufrene (in-game names MW, Delta Dawne)
  • AfroBank FM: An African music channel hosted by Burna Boy and DJ Palms Trax (in-game names Burna and Palmsy)
  • The Chamber 106.6: A metal music channel hosted by Kerry King and Tom Araya (in-game names DJ Kerry and DJ Tom)
  • Flash FM: A pop music channel hosted by Robyn and Alex Consani (in-game names simply Robyn and Alex)
  • Dirty South Classics: A rap and hip-hop channel hosted by Trina and Trick Daddy (in-game names simply Trina and Trick)

It’s an incredibly expensive line-up for a game that has been made with no expense spared. As Christian Donlan noted after watching Netflix’s extended GTA 6 reveal: this is what a billion dollars gets you.

The timing of this GTA 6 announcement coincides with another huge GTA 6 gameplay footage leak by CyberLeek, which shows nudity, dirt-biking and a developer menu. CyberLeek activity had seemed to have stopped following Rockstar parent company Take-Two taking legal action to track them down and find them, but this latest development suggests they’re still at large.

Meanwhile, GTA 6 edges ever closer to its 19th November release, while Rockstar Games also fights an employment tribunal case in Scotland linked to alleged union busting.
