I’m an editor and also a mom of two. These are my favorite organic and eco-friendly nursing bras and maternity bras with soft materials and extra support.
We all know the power of a well-fitting, high-quality, and comfortable bra. But while nursing, there’s also the important engineering aspect of getting your boob out of that bra…frequently…throughout the day. In my nursing journey with my two girls, a bra that functions well and feels supportive has made the 24/7 task so much easier. Finding the right nursing bra can take some trial and error, and it may take time to learn exactly how you want yours to feel and function.
What to look for in a nursing bra:
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but throughout a breastfeeding journey, there’s probably not going to be one miracle bra that supports all of your needs. For starters, your breasts grow and shift as your baby grows. You might want a comfortable bralette-style bra for nighttime feedings to help with leaking or general support. For pumping, you’ll need a bra that accommodates pumps or offers a hands-free option. Then there’s the everyday bra — one that comfortably holds your breasts while making nursing, pumping, or supplementing easier.
All that to say, the right nursing bras should grow with you and your changing needs.
Whether this is your first time breastfeeding or you’ve done this before, there are a few key design features to look for when shopping for a nursing bra. Because your breasts change so much from the time your baby is born through that first year, adjustable features are especially important. Look for details like a hook-and-eye closure with multiple settings. Cups that open easily with one hand are a small feature that makes a big difference during feeding or pumping sessions, when time — and hands — are limited. Wide straps and a supportive band can also help carry the extra weight without leaving your shoulders sore.
You’ll also want to be mindful of the materials your nursing bra is made from. Look for breathable fabrics that feel gentle against sensitive skin, as well as organic and nontoxic materials that won’t add to or create irritation for both you and your baby.
The best nursing bras offer added support while also serving as a tool for the beautiful journey of breastfeeding, however that may look for you.
Our criteria & methodology:
For this guide, we’ve compiled a list of brands that use organic, eco-friendly, and ethical materials without losing sight of support and function. We’ve also prioritized size inclusivity and price point.
- DURABLE | These supportive maternity bras are made to last and can handle countless washes, giving you one less thing to worry about during a busy day with your little one.
- ORGANIC | Many of the brands featured here use certified organic fabrics, keeping you and your growing family safe from harsh chemicals while feeling soft and comfortable against your skin.
- ECO-FRIENDLY | We’ve selected brands that are thoughtful about their environmental impact — from carefully sourcing materials to low-waste manufacturing practices. Many also have third-party certifications, so you can feel confident you’re supporting the planet while caring for your baby.
- AFFORDABLE | Motherhood is expensive, so we’ve included options that are budget-friendly without compromising quality. Many of these bras can be worn before, during, and after pregnancy, making the cost per wear even lower.

I personally tested each bra below while breastfeeding and during everyday wear. I considered first how the bra fit and felt on my body, then how it looked under clothing and, of course, how easy and functional it was for breastfeeding. I also tried styles I don’t typically gravitate toward, which helped me better understand what I actually need in a nursing bra.
Ultimately, my favorites were the ones that offered the most comfort and looked best under clothing. It was also a helpful lesson in rediscovering my breast size now that I’m at the tail end of my breastfeeding journey. Please measure yourself before buying a new nursing bra — fit is important!

Courtney’s Review: I tried the Luxe Nursing Bra in black, size S, and I adore this bra. The brand name perfectly suits the way it feels: Like a sweet embrace. It has a few unique design features that make it one of the most comfortable bras on this list. The back hooks, straps, and underband are all cushioned, so you can barely feel it while wearing it.
