Jaguar’s first EV looks just like its divisive concept car

The Type 01, Jaguar’s most important and divisive car in years, has arrived. The production follow-up to the polarising Type 00 concept, Jaguar says the electric, four-door grand tourer is its most powerful road car ever.

Even though the Type 00’s design chief was reportedly fired earlier this year, most of its aesthetic has carried over to the final car, for better or worse. You can’t buy it in that hot Miami pink though — didn’t anyone tell them GTA VI is almost here? It has the same low-slung silhouette, extended side-profile, and huge 23-inch wheels as the prototype, though shifting to a four-door design makes those proportions feel more natural.

On the inside, leather and brass detailing run throughout. A 24-inch OLED display sits behind the steering wheel, with additional 7-inch, smartphone-style screens in the central spine, one in the front and one in the back, with controls for climate, audio, and seats. With no true rear window, there’s another display instead, rising out of the “panoramic soundbar” to display the feed from a rear-facing camera.

Under the hood, three electric motors (one front, two rear) combine to deliver up to 1,016 horsepower and 1,365Nm of torque, going from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, and from there to 112mph in a further 4.0 seconds. The 118kWh battery should deliver a range of up to 400 miles, and 350kW DC charging should get back 200 miles of range in as little as 13 minutes.

Orders for the Type 01 are expected to open in early 2027, with cars shipping in the second half of the year. Full pricing hasn’t been announced, but Jaguar has opened signups to register interest, teasing that one variant will cost $130,500.
