Capcom’s Monster Hunter series has become an absolute powerhouse over the past two decades and while the company’s current focus is on the latest entry Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s taken a brief moment this week to provide an update on the sales of the previous release.
According to official sales data, Monster Hunter Rise (which originally landed as a Switch exclusive in 2021) has now shifted more than 20 million units across all platforms. Base game sales have no doubt been bolstered over the years thanks to the Sunbreak expansion pack, and this also followed with the Xbox and PlayStation versions in 2023.
In comparison, Capcom’s official website has Monster Hunter World base game sales recorded at 22.40 million units (as of 30th June 2026). As for Wilds, a previous sales update earlier this year revealed it had shifted more than 11 million units since its arrival in 2025.
To celebrate this latest Monster Hunter sales milestone, Capcom has released special anniversary artwork and a message thanking fans for their support:
“Monster Hunter Rise” has achieved 20 million units in total sales! To all hunters, thank you for your support! We look forward to your continued support for the “Monster Hunter” series!
“For those who haven’t played yet, sales are currently underway at various digital stores! Don’t miss your chance to debut as a hunter.”

If you somehow haven’t already played this game, or its expansion, as noted by Capcom in the message above, the game is currently on sale on digital stores. You can also check out our reviews here on Nintendo Life for more information about this particular entry.
Later this year, in December, Capcom is releasing Monster Hunter Wilds for the Switch 2. This will be followed by the release of the new game’s expansion Ascendance in 2027.
