Jennifer Lawrence and More Star in Dior Cruise 2027 Campaign at LACMA

PARIS — Perpetuating the love affair between fashion and art, the new Dior cruise campaign captures Jennifer Lawrence, Greta Lee, Taylor Russell and Drew Starkey admiring some of the star attractions at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Creative director Jonathan Anderson presented the collection in May against the backdrop of the museum’s new wing designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architect Peter Zumthor.

The four Dior brand ambassadors were photographed by Sam Rock, who had the actors “playing” themselves as they wandered through the galleries, contemplating works of art including Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies” or a Jacob van Ruisdael landscape.

Accessories are featured prominently in the images, with Russell touting the triangular-shaped Dior Initials Hobo, while Lee carries a two-handled satchel dubbed the Dior Double.

Starkey wears the oversize Dior Double-Up Messenger and a plaid shirt from the brand’s collaboration with artist Ed Ruscha, identical to the one worn by Anderson when he took his bow after his spring 2027 show in Paris on Tuesday.

“The campaign plays with the way images are mediated in contemporary culture. Are the actors acting for the camera, or not? Is that a shirt, or an artwork?” the brand said in a statement.

Since taking over as creative director of Dior last year, Anderson has collaborated with contemporary artists including Sheila Hicks and Magdalene Odundo.

His debut collection for the house was presented against the backdrop of two still lives by 18th-century painter Jean Siméon Chardin on loan from the Louvre museum.

Olivier Gabet, director of the decorative arts department at the Louvre, noted at the time the show set reflected the brand’s deep roots in the art world, which go back to founder Christian Dior’s early career as a gallerist.

“I think [Anderson is] really going to put the focus back on the essence of luxury, and this is a perfect demonstration of that,” he said.

The full Dior cruise campaign will be released on Oct. 22 to coincide with the arrival of the collection in stores.
