Tolkien’s Books Are Seeing Big Discounts Ahead of Prime Day

Peter Jackson’s movie series has become almost synonymous with both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, but J.R.R. Tolkien’s original works still stand tall as the most influential fantasy books of all time.

It’s no surprise, then, that the books have been reprinted hundreds of times, but that means there are some truly excellent versions to check out, illustrated or otherwise. Right now, Amazon is offering some steep discounts on various Middle-Earth books ahead of Prime Day – here are the best offers.

Save On The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit Books At Amazon

Before The Hobbit, there was The Silmarillion, and while not as well-known as the works that followed, it remains essential for establishing a lot of lore and characters.

It does so through the history of Fëanor and his people, taking in their exile from Valinor, their return to Middle-Earth, and a long, hopeless war.

Right now, this illustrated version is reduced by 63%. That brings it down from $75 to just $27.53, an ideal gift for a Tolkien fan.

Next up: The Hobbit. The tale of Bilbo’s journey across Middle-Earth is a fantasy staple, with all the fun of the dwarves, some of Gandalf’s best moments, and a very, very big dragon.

If you’ve never read it, you’re missing out, and you can pick up this paperback version of the book for $7.99 – reduced by 58% from its MSRP of $18.99.

If you want to go a little bit further, you can also save on a version illustrated by J.R.R. Tolkien himself. The Hobbit Deluxe Illustrated would usually set you back $195, but it’s currently reduced to $83.47 ahead of Prime Day.

The Lord of the Rings Illustrated needs no introduction, but its timeless tale of heroism against dark forces has formed the basis for fantasy going forward, as well as its cautionary tale of power’s corruption.

It’s currently just $39.67, reduced from $90 for this hardcover edition with illustrations (not from Tolkien, admittedly).

Finally, if you or a loved one has read all of the above, why not treat them to something a little different? Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-Earth is a collection of stories and essays that helps expand Tolkien’s world and fill in some narrative blanks (like how Gandalf sent the dwarves to Bag-End to kick off the events of The Hobbit).

It’s down to $7.24 from $19.99, making it an ideal stocking filler at this price.
