Caitlin Clark to appear as guest picker for ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ in Week 5

With the Indiana Fever out of the WNBA playoffs, Caitlin Clark is heading back to Iowa City.

ESPN announced Friday evening that the former Iowa star would be the guest picker for “College GameDay” on Saturday morning. No. 14 Iowa hosts No. 5 Ohio State at 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS) in the only top-15 matchup of Week 5. It’s also GameDay’s first trip to Iowa since 2006.

Iowa became the obvious site for the pregame show after the Hawkeyes upset Michigan in Week 4 on the final play. Iowa won 20-19 on a touchdown pass with no time remaining.

Clark was available after the Fever were eliminated from the playoffs Thursday night in Las Vegas. The Aces beat the Fever 94-83 to win their first-round series 2-1. Clark got hit in the mouth — literally — in the loss, as she was bloodied after a Jewell Loyd elbow.

Her appearance also comes just two days after the release of her first signature shoe. Nike quickly sold out of most sizes of its Caitlin 1s on Wednesday as Clark’s shoe was available in two color ways.

Iowa is a 14-point underdog to the Buckeyes. Ohio State dismantled Illinois 42-19 in Week 4 and the Buckeyes’ lone loss of the season came at No. 1 Texas.
