Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary TCG Is Getting A Huge New Drop, But There’s A Catch

Whether you’ve had a tough time securing any of the new Pokémon 30th Anniversary products or you’re simply looking to complete a master set of the collection, October 2, 2026, should be on your radar. The date marks the second wave of major 30th Anniversary products coming to major retailers and local card shops. Here’s what you need to know.

What Pokémon TCG products are releasing on Friday?

Stores like Target, Best Buy, and Walmart should be stocking two new Pokémon 30th Anniversary products. The first notable new product is a Booster Bundle with 6 packs. This release isn’t as flashy as an Elite Trainer Box, and it doesn’t come with promo cards like the Poster Collection. What the Booster Bundle offers is the best possible deal on 30th Anniversary products — especially if you manage to score them at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $26.94.

Best Buy is usually a good bet in this regard, as the retailer enforces a strict one item type per customer limit. Target’s $31.99 pricing is a little higher, but the retailer also earlier for those of you who have to go to work in the morning.

The other notable Oct. 2 releases are the 30th Anniversary Mini Tins, which come with two packs and an art insert for $9.99. The day and night-themed tins feature Unown that spell out the word ‘Anniversary.’

What about ETBs and the other 30th Anniversary products?

Most places will stock shelves with both the new boxes and the older products that came out on September 16. No matter where you go, expect the ETBs to sell out first unless you’re lining up several hours before the store opens.

Where should I try to buy the new Pokémon releases?

As mentioned before, chains like Target and Best Buy have their pros and cons. Target allows customers to purchase a higher volume of products, but that also means that fewer people can secure TCG products. Competition for TCG releases is higher at Target thanks to that higher limit.

Best Buy offers products at MSRP, but there are also significantly fewer locations nationwide compared to Target.

Walmart is a wild card. In some regions, Walmart stores put out 30th Anniversary products on Wednesday. At others, Walmart is ensured to have new stock on Friday … but it may not be right at open.

GameStop’s prices are notorious, but their products are also more likely to be in stock and priced significantly lower than scalpers.

The last notable option here are the local card shops. You should call to make sure your shop is actually receiving the product on release day, and to inquire about prices. Each shop also handles releases differently: at one shop, it might be first-come, first-served, while others might require pre-orders or sign-ups. Some independent stores have plenty of products that aren’t liable to sell out immediately — but only because they’re selling at market rate for sealed products. You may even encounter establishments where 30th Anniversary products have a solid price … if you allow the store to cut open the seal.

Is finding the new 30th Anniversary products worth it?

If you’re fine with waiting in lines or going on a scavenger hunt, and you have the money to spend, sure. If the thought stresses you out, you may want to check out Walmart’s weekly raffle drops. Another option is to eschew new packs and buy singles. That Booster Bundle could have the expensive RBG Mew … or it might be full of repeats. You could blow $100 or more on these boxes and get nothing you want, or you could spend the same amount and get exactly what you want. This approach isn’t nearly as fun, but don’t let FOMO get the best of you.
