Nisshin remains the venue for the semi-finals as well as the two medal matches – the third-place playoff and final – that will be played on Saturday. Though there is still a threat of rain on Thursday, the forecast is for brighter weather.
In case of a tie in any of the remaining matches, a Super Over will determine the winner. In the semi-finals, if weather conditions prevent the match or Super Over from being completed, the higher seed will go through to the final – India and Pakistan are the higher seeds in their respective matches. In case of a washout in the final, the two teams will share the gold medal.
Because of weather and pre-seedings, none of the four semi-finalists have contested a single ball of the tournament yet. The four quarter-finalists who came through from the group stage – Nepal, Afghanistan, Malaysia and Hong Kong – end their tournaments with one win, one loss and one washout apiece.
